What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence and change based talking therapy. It is based on the main understanding that what you think and do affects the way you feel.
Sometimes, through no fault of your own, you can get stuck in a vicious cycle and inadvertently keep the problem going. CBT is about finding out how we get stuck and see if we can make changes to the way we think and behave in order to try and break the cycle.
CBT is very much a collaborative therapy, where we go on a journey together to try and make life a little easier. We focus on problems in the here and now, rather than delving too much into the past. It involves homework in between sessions to continue making discoveries and changes.

CBT is recommended as a first choice psychological intervention in the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for a range of anxiety disorders, depression and eating disorders.
